Helping Ninjas Book Drive

Many members within Helping Ninjas, know the importance of making books more accessible to children and teens across Central Indiana. In fact, did you know that many children may not have access to a large selection of books in their own homes?
Helping Ninjas wanted to find a way to help these students; with books, students can develop their reading skills, explore new ideas, and discover stories that inspire them.
Helping Ninjas is collecting these books to support the Indy Book Project and its mission to provide free books to children and teens across Central Indiana. The drive will run from now through October 1st, 2026, giving everyone an opportunity to participate and help local children. We are hoping that the community will show up and donate books for those who need them.
If you are wondering what to donate, don’t look any further. You can donate new and gently used books for children ages 0–18, including books written in both English and Spanish. Some of the highest-priority books include board books, picture books, graphic novels, and diverse titles.
The amazing part about this drive is that it is about more than simply collecting books. A single book can give a child a new story to enjoy, a new subject to learn about, or a new world to imagine. Every book donated helps put stories directly into the hands of local kids who need them most. Whether someone donates one book or many, every contribution is a step toward helping a child build their own home library.
Everyone can do something. You can donate a book, tell a friend about the drive, or help spread the word throughout the community. Together, we can show how a small act of generosity can become part of something much bigger. Sincere thanks to everyone who helps make this book drive possible. Note: There are also some books that should not be donated, including adult fiction and nonfiction, textbooks, encyclopedias, books with heavy religious or holiday content, coloring or activity books, and damaged books.
