Food rescue is the act of rescuing food before it is wasted. Or preventing or saving food from going to the landfill.

Example. Food in school cafeterias that are unopened or uneaten can be given to local charities who help to feed children and families who are in need of hood. Instead of the food going to a trash can and then to a landfill. The food is repurposed. Or recycled. To either feed the hungry or to create renewable energy, like compost.

Did You Know? Roughly one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year — approximately 1.3 billion tonnes — gets lost or wasted.

Food Waste  is a global problem.
